NILO VERANO
VOCALIST, SONGWRITER, ARRANGER & HOLISTIC VOICE TEACHER
ABOUT
Nilo Verano is the new voice of Latin American music. She weaves the stories of her ancestors through a timeless sound that evokes listeners to remember their universal nature. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, she emigrated to Miami, Florida at a young age. This awakened a lifelong journey of self-exploration and search for the meaning of “home”. Her musical journey began with Indigenous prayer songs of her Colombian heritage, and quickly evolved to embody the multi-cultural influences Miami has to offer. This inspired her to travel throughout Latin America in search of the stories of her ancestors. From Indigenous tribes in the Colombian Amazon to Afro-Brazilian spirituality, she found what she was in search of and both her music, and her mission started to take shape.
In 2017 she was accepted to Berklee College of Music where she was awarded a scholarship as a voice principal after auditioning with a native song from the Inga Tribe. There, she refined her skills as a vocalist, arranger and composer while supporting the college as a cultural ambassador. An activist first and musician second, her work aims to bring consciousness to her listeners through clear and thought-provoking lyrics while uplifting our spirits to rejoice in the beauty and mystery of life.
